WeChat Menus Setup

Menu options can be configured through WeChat Connector App and sync to WeChat Official account.

There are two types of WeChat menus:

Default Menu – group of menu options displayed by default
Conditional Menu – group of menu options displayed based on WeChat follower tag.

Note: if multiple groups of conditional menus have been setup, and WeChat followers has multiple tag matches the tags setup again each conditional menu group, the most recent published conditional menu will be displayed

Follow below steps to setup WeChat Menus:

Navigate to WeChat Management-> Menus in “WeChat Connector” model driven app per below, it will open the menu management page.

1. Navigate to the menu management page

2. Open the menu management page, the WeChat official account will show the default WeChat account in current environment by default.

3. Open the menu management page, menu group will show the default published menu group

4. After clicking copy button a new Menu Group (with the prefix "Copy XXXXXXX") will be created based on the currently selected Menu Group, and all the menus under the Menu Group will be copied

a. After the new Menu group is created, the new menu group will be loaded in current page

b. The new menu group status will be unpublished, and the menu status is draft. Users need to click "Publish All" again to publish the new Menu Group

5. Click it to add a new menu group.

a. Menu Types:

i. Default – Each WeChat Official Account will only have one default; you can only publish or republish default menu after update.

ii. Conditional – Multiple Conditional menus can be created each with different tag, conditional menu can be unpublished.

6. Click it to edit the selected menu group name and type

a. Type - only editable when

i. selected menu group type = "Default", and selected menu group status is not published

b. Name - editable all the time

7. Publish the selected menu group and related menus under it.

a. Displays when

i. Group menu status is unpublished/failed

ii. Group menu status is published but there’s the menu is draft status under it

b. Upon clicking on “Publish All” the WeChat Menu record, the setup will be synchronized to WeChat Official Account.

c. If the menu publishing failed, it will show a red spot flag, user could advise the menu and click publish button to publish it again.

8. Refresh current page

9. Parent menu section

10. Move the selected parent menu position to left

11. Delete the selected parent menu position

12. Move the selected parent menu position to right

13. Child menu section

14. Unpublish button below

a. Only displays if Menu Group status = "Published", and menu group type = "Conditional"

b. When clicked unpublish conditional menu group.

c. Note only "Conditional" menu can be unpublished.

After the menu group sync to WeChat Account, navigate to WeChat Official Account you will see the updated menu options:

Note: A menu group can set up a maximum of three parent menus; a parent menu can set up a maximum of five child menus.

Note: It can have only one set of published default menu group for one WeChat official account, and multiple sets of conditional menus groups. If there multiple default menu groups WeChat official account will only display the last published default menu group.

Note: Upon successfully publishing the menus, it might take up to 5 minutes for the new menu to take effect.

Note: Error message “errmsg, domain count reach limit rid”, means the conditional menu group contains more than 3 URLs with different domain names. To resolve this, ensure URLs with different domain names don’t exceed more than 3. This is a restriction by the WeChat platform for security reasons.
